So we found out yesterday that Mason is ticklish and can laugh. I can home from work and he was laying on his back on his play mat. He smiled and seemed happy to see me. I was playing with him and I tickled his ribs and he started laughing! It was pretty funny. He had made a noise once or twice in the past that we assumed was laughter, but we weren’t sure. But it was repeatable, we could tickle his ribs or his arm pits and he would laugh. It was funny stuff. I may have to take come ghetto video of it…

Sleep
Everyone makes jokes that when you have a baby, you don’t sleep… well, that is true. Mason has stopped napping, we think because he is excited to see us and wants to be social. Well, that is a problem cause then he is cranky 1/2 the day, and even though you can see that he is tired, he is fighting it to stay awake. So while we haven’t read the books yet on sleeping, we have started putting him to bed early.
Last night we put him down at 9:30pm and he slept. This evening, we put him down around 8:30 or so. He cried for about 47 minutes before he finally fell asleep. There was nothing wrong with him, he was fed and dry and all that, but he wasn’t ready to sleep.
Although he will be on a road trip with mom for a week and that will throw the whole thing off wack, having time to get shit done while he sleeps is nice and having him in a better mood cause he sleeps is great.
My little boy…
so sunday, Mason was fussy most of the day. He has been getting up at 6am (thanks skylight) and has been up and wide awake, so have I. So yesterday we had him in the swing, watching baby einstein DVDs, in the chair, on his play mat, whatever and he was fussy in them all. So I put him in his bouncy chair, sit him in front of the TV, sit next to him, and turned on the F1 season opening race. He loved it. I tried to explain things to him to bring him up to speed. He watched the TV or me nearly the entire race, and smiled most of the time. It was pretty dope. And it was a good race too.
4 Month Checkup
Mason had his 4 month checkup last night and all went well. We got the second round of immunizations and a normal checkup and there were no problems. He is progressing well, although they said he is tall and thin, just like his parents. He grabs and holds on to things as he is supposed to. He smiles and engages as he is supposed to. I have noticed it appears that he can see further than in the past. He is a lot of fun! I am excited for summer so that we can take him outside and walk around, play in the yard, etc.
He isn’t sleeping through the night that often, which is annoying. He will nap though, and we did just get him a new swing that he seems to like alot. The difference is that the swing goes side to side as well as forward and back, and he likes the side to side motion.
He will occasionally have a tough day, but for the most part he is pretty well behaved, not lots of screaming, etc. He travels well, and he sleeps in the car without issue. It is funny cause he is always looking around, taking things in. Funny stuff.
Rolling Rolling Rolling
So although we had the fluke back in the day, Mason rolled over from his stomach to his back today. Go Mason!
Progress…
Mason makes lots of different noises now. He holds on to things much better now as well. It gets easier and easier to make him smile now too, although it is still somewhat elusive to get on photos. He is lots of fun! It seems like he gets frustrated that he can’t move around and talk, but I am sure that will change soon!
More pictures…
Mason is doing well, nothing TOO exciting to note as of late. He smiles more and more, which certainly is a nice change.
I have added a number of pictures lately, so check them out on my fotki account.
More sleeping…
So while it has been a week, Mason did sleep through the night again last night. Not yet an everyday occurance, it is nice to get a full night’s sleep again.
Through the night…
Although he has always slept WELL, Mason actually slept through the night last night. 7 hours straight. I woke up this AM, looked over, and thought to myself “hey, it is time to get up and Mason didn’t wake up at all!”
Sounds good to me! I hope this becomes a trend. It would be a nice trend. In the recent past he has been getting up once per night for feeding, which itself isn’t too bad. But this all nighter thing would be a nice change!
More and MORE AND MORE PICS
So with the new camera I got, I am taking more and more pictures. It is fun. I don’t mind it at all, and I am sure I won’t be mad in the future. But it still amuses me. Especially because the pictures, especially at this point in time, are really all kinda the same. I mean he isn’t even 3 weeks old yet, so there are only so many things he can even really do. But alas, I take more pics.
So check them out!
